1. The Mask
"Sssssmokin'!" We all remember the comedy god Jim Carey when he played Stanley Ipkiss in the movie, "The Mask". In the movie, he was empowered by a magical snot-colored green mask.
This iconic movie left us on our tippy toes as he opened the world with possibilities. Now, I wonder what it felt like to have twirling legs.
2. Frankenstein (1994)
Whoa there! How can we forget this gruesome terror tale? It's not every day that a scientist is able to bring assemble body parts back to life.
Frankenstein demands two things: a bride (a female monster) or revenge. This costume sure does justice for the creepy monster that was presented in the film.
3. Britney Spears
Britney Spears gave us many looks during the late '90s especially in her "Oops I did it again!" video. The red metallic catsuit doesn't get much better than this.
Her girly style is iconic and will always be relevant in any time period. So if you're not sure what to be for Halloween, Britneys got your back.
4. Scooby Doo
If you have troubles with unsolved mysterious or even scary villains, you better call "Scooby Dooby Doo, Where are you?!" We loved the group of teenage friends and their Great Dane (Scooby-Doo)!
Looks like we have the whole detective team of Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, Fred, and little Scrappy. Whether you're going on a night out or have a celebration planned this one will definitely catch some laughs.
5. Hocus Pocus
We all remember this Halloween staple movie, that we watched too many times around Halloween. This film is fun as its filled with hysterical problems of the three witches, a talking cat, and flying vacuum cleaners.
Watching this movie is like attending a party where you don't know anybody, and they're all in on an inside joke but they won't explain it to you.
6. Space Jam
"Space Jam" is like a happy marriage of good ideas--Looney Tunes, pro basketball, and adventures. After all, this storyline is like nothing we have seen before. Who remembers Daffy and Porky Pig shakin' it to get fit?
This legacy animation has recently spilled the beans that they are expecting a "Space Jam 2" and this time it's with LeBron James. As far as we know the storyline will be new but the uniforms will stay the same. Phew!
7. The Big Comfy Couch
"The big comfy Couch "with LOONETTE, the red-nosed, pig-tailed, clown child. This clown would find the strangest things in between the cushions of her sofa. Also her doll Molly was always beside her.
This costume looks almost exact to Loonete from the show. We are just missing her living doll Molly that was so stinking cute.
8. Pretty Woman
Julia Roberts shot to stardom with her breakout role in "Pretty Woman". We can't forget this romantic comedy film about a Georgia girl getting her fairytale ending. Even more, we can forget her iconic dress.
There she is, Vivian Ward! Although in the film she went through quite a change this one was the most iconic-- Blonde wig, XXL hoops, and thigh-high boots, and an extra revealing dress.
9. Spice Girls
"Tell me what you want, Want ya really really want!" These British-pop girls spiced up our lives with the best music and made it hard to hear anything else.
The five girls basically had us obsessed with their all-around personas. These girls did it all-- acted, sang, danced, and modeled! Their official motto was "Girl Power" which in other words they expressed to never be afraid to express yourself to the MAX!
The beautiful, popular, and rich high school student Cher Horowitz from the movie "Clueless". Cher thinks she knows everything and tended to treat others as projects instead of human beings.
In the movie, she did play secret matchmaking and decided to perform a makeover, when absolutely didn't ask for one. Consider this outfit a free pass to use the phrase "As If!", as you please.
Judith Funnie the older sister of Doug Funnie from the show "Doug". We hardly ever saw her without her beret nor her sunglasses. This intelligent and artistic girl was so focused on her art, she even attended The Moody School (for artistically talented teenagers.)
Judy the extrovert of the family, usually embarrassed them while shouting outloud-- " I AM TRYING TO FIND MYSELF, MOM!". She was one of a kind.
Ashley Spinelli was the coolest kid on the playground and the most first in the "Recess" gang. We all loved this tomboy for her "keep it real attitude" and her heart of gold for her friends.
Who remembers the scene when she has held a bat and said "He better help or He's gonna meet my good friend, Madam Fist!" Let's just say, it's probably not worth meeting her fist.
"If you first you don't succeed, dust it off and try again". Aaliyah was one of the greatest moments in modern soul history and her voice was unlike anyone else's we've seen before.
Aaliyah only recorded three albums during her lifetime and almost a decade later she is unforgettable. From her cool style to her soothing voice, we can call her "The princess of R&B".
14. Quinn The Brain
Quinn thought she would be the outcast of her English class from the show "Daria". The opposite happens; she became the popular brain and felt as if she was loosing her identity.
We loved Quinn for her alt-rock power that overcomes her sister Daria's worries for her stepping up her intellectual side. Besides that this 90's show showed us different world views on race, gender, and pop culture.
15. Backstreet Boys
"Backstreets Back, Alright!" Our favorite boy band "Backstreet Boys" touched our hearts with love songs and radio-friendly music. This five-boy group--made up of AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough, Brain Litteral, and Nick Carter--were literally everywhere.
This copy of their outfits from "Everybody" is genius and the outfits are almost exact! We can forget the introduction of the music video, as it starts out like a thriller movie.
16. Super Mario
Who remembers Super Mario 64? What about saving Princess Peach? This video game deserves to be remembered for its jumps over bottomless pits and and warp pipes.
Today, they have come out with many different versions of the game that are just as good. But we can't forget the satisfaction of passing levels with a bunch of fireballs!
17. Ninja Turtles
Leo, Mikey, Donnie, Raph--the original lean green fighting machines! These turtles are always ready for a good time with explosive thrills. These girls killed the look! We love their extravaganza.
"Cowabunga!" Along with their amazing catchphrases, these ninja turtles each had their own color they represented and unique personality. Who can ever forget these hard-shelled weapon-holding turtles?
18. Magic School Bus
It's Ms.Frizzle and her magic school bus! This probably had to be one of the eye-gluing animated shows ever. This show was packed with knowledge,it made science both dazzling and silly for children.
Ms. Frizzle the "strangest teacher in the school" would say --"Welcome to outer space, class. The only planetarium opens 24 hours a day, seven days a week." Strangely enough, she would shrink down her class so they can travel through the human body!
19. Back to the Future
Yes, dogs dress up for Halloween too! This had to be one of the most iconic adventures that were released during the time. The fun production and weird script make the imperfections, perfect!
I wonder if these doggies were able to travel back in time to see their parents as teenagers. In any case, watching the movie today would be just as exciting as the first time.
20. The Adams Family
This family had to be the most mysterious and spooky family--Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, and Grandma. Oh yeah, they also casually had celebrations to wake up the dead.
With that, we couldn't get enough of these odd, wealthy, "unconcerned about others" family. Was it mentioned, they keep their graveyard on their property?
Selena is also known as "Queen of Tejano Music" stole our hearts! She was a phenomenon. She is a legend. This beautiful Latin beauty not only was an amazing singer but had a unique sense of fashion and style.
We will never get enough of Selena, her positivity and heartfelt passion will always be remembered. "With a positive attitude, you can be anything you want to be".
This movie had to be one of the scariest of the '90s and even history. The first original scream was iconic in 1996. Not so kid-friendly, but sure is clever, funny, and left us frightened.
There is no denying one of the scariest moments was when Sidney is alone in the bathroom and there is a voice and ghost appears. What a great jump scare!
23. 101 Dalmatians
This Disney movie was absolutely fantastic! This film gives an equal about of time to the kids as they do to the animals. How can we forget the moment when the Dalmatian's puppies are abducted by the evil Cruella de Vil. (As you see in the pic!)
The Cruel Cruella she was, with her snotty classic car, long cigarette holder, and her striking flamboyant poses. Her unapologetically selfish nature was one of a kind for this Disney film.
24. Mrs. Doubtfire
The once called Daniel Hillard lived with his wife and his three kids: Lydia, Chris, and Natalie. In the film he transforms into the hilarious British nanny, that becomes Mrs.Doubtfire in order to stay near to his kids.
This costume pinpointed the character in the movie as she dressed in disguise! Mrs.Doubtfire sure was the nanny from heaven, helpful, reassuring, and everything he should have been while he was married.
25. Shes all that
She's all that was one of the sweetest make-you-smile films! When a geek-turned-popular girl Laney Boggs met cool Zach Siler. One of the most memorable moments of the films is the impromptu professional dance at the prom, but also all of the falafel-related quotes.
One of the most iconic quotes was "Would you like to super-size those falafel balls?" As she is standing skeptical and has the falafel balls wobbling on her head.
26. Love and Basketball
Early 2000's American romantic sports drama showed us female ambition! Monica was ferociously competitive with Quincy on the court as they both aspired to be professional basketball players. As a good romantic comedy goes--they fell in love!
We loved Monica for her "stand up for herself" attitude in a sport that is surrounded by men. Although she was always tough on the field, she showed her soft side.
27. Destiny's Child
We loved "Destiny's Child" for their songs and their embellished looks! "Destiny's Child was made up of --Letoya Luckett, Farrah Franklin, and best known Beyoncè Knowles. One thing is they sure are is, coordinated! These country girls always knew how to have us feeling fisty.
They killed the Billboards with their song "Say My Name" and "Independent Women Part I". If you're looking for some extra sassy's, it's worth dressing up as these girlies!
The coolest green guy around-- "The Hulk". This fictional superhero from a Marvel Comic basically transformed into a pop-corn-formula-movie. In the film, he is living between two lives--the soft-spoken scientist and the uncontrollable green monster.
If anything, no one wants to mess with the Hulk! He will smash any threats and, will prove to the world that he is the strongest HERO ever!
29. The Simpsons
"D'oh!" The Simpson family-- Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Since the show has stated they haven't aged even a day, Even their quotes are so iconic their popular lines even get better with years!
Who can not love this family? They are a nice and kind of normal family that influenced by popular culture. These costumes couldn't have reminded us more of all comically amusing times on the show.
30. Star Wars
"I am your father", Star Wars is a legacy that we will never turn our back on. The Star Wars story is full of hope, action in a fictional universe. This movie is both quality and quantity, together!
There we have it-- Darth Vador and Princess Leia. We loved the story that was taken in a galaxy far away. Without hesitation, this is a trilogy that can be binged-watched a few times a year.
31. Mean Girls
"You can't sit with us", "Mean Girls is probably the most quotable movie of the century! I mean, who hasn't watched this movie a million times? Cady's experiences with the cruel laws of popularity and cliques are hilarious throughout the movie.
In the movie, the popular girls are better known as "the plastics". Let's just say, these girls totally rocked the look. As Gretchen would say, "That's so fetch".
Ok if you're a 90's kid you have to know-- Cetus-Lupeedus! And her song "SuperNova Girl", one of the catchiest songs ever made. This entertaining Disney Movie was basically a fun rollercoaster ride.
Who wouldn't want to live in a Space station orbiting the Earth? We loved Zenon as she was; a positive role model, courageous, and expressed the importance of teamwork.
33. Winnie The Pooh
Everyone had to have at least one stuffed animal from the show "Winnie the Pooh".This adventure cartoon show was all about "Pooh" bear getting himself into "sticky" situations.
Pure nostalgia! This show taught us wisdom, positive thoughts, and giggles! Even taught us lessons; "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." Love that!
34. Lizzie Mcguire
Lizzie Mcguire had to be the coolest, most real 13 -year- old on television! She showed us what it's really like being a teenager while she searched for acceptance from her peers.
Lizzie is that you? Lizzie, we were always there for you even during your embarrassing moments with Ethan Craft. Or even when your brother Matt, always tried to embarrass you!
Everyone knows this genius little girl, named Matilda in the film "Matilda". She builds psychokinetic abilities that she uses to deal with her disreputable family.
Matilda has a blast in the film as she's finally able to turntables, to stand up to her parents from their constant cruelty! Sounds interesting, to have telekinetic powers for a day!
36. Cheetah Girls
Cheetah girls are the almost dream team with their ultimate singing talent and dance moves! They go to Manhattan High School and are trying to win the talent show at school.
As Chanel said in the movie, "You're a cheetah girl because of who you are, and what's in your heart...and you're a pure Cheetah Girl, Por La Vida." Iconic!
37. Christina Aguilera
We all loved Christina for her hit "Genie in a bottle" as she stole hearts all over the world with her new unique voice! She also taught us a lot about individuality and accepting everyone for who they are with her hit "Beautiful".
This period of time will always have a special spot in history. But Being Christina for Halloween you have a few options. Will you be "Genie in a bottle Christina, or will you get "Dirrty"?
Ladies, Fiona couldn't have been the only one that fell in love with Shrek! He was the most lovable and deep ogre around. This witty fairytale showed us that fairytales can be adventurous, humorous, and fun!
Shrek has to be one of the most iconic characters in the history of animation. But Who is Shrek without "Donkey" by his side? Shrek and Donkey did it all.
Who remembers sneaking your Tamagotchi in your school backpack? Pure Nostalgia! This egg-shaped toy was our pet, that we kept "alive" with a lot of care and attention.
Yep, it was one of the biggest fads of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The best part was connecting with your friends: exchanging gifts, and even marrying with their Tamagotchi's!
40. Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon is one of the coolest anime characters. Her "I love you" in sign language hand movements, while she says her famous line -- "In the name of the moon, I will punish you".
We needed a reminder of Sailor Moon, it's been too long! Also, it's been a while since we've seen her magical talking cat named Luna. Together they would battle the evil forces of the Dark Kingdom!
