You are bound to have lost something at some point in your life because it blended into the background seamlessly. Well, sometimes things happen to have the perfect look to fade away into their surroundings and you'd be surprised to see some of these things. From a dog that blends into gravel to a literally invisible car, we have collected a ton of photos showing off just how good some things are at camouflaging themselves. If you want to see some mind-bending illusions, check out the pictures below!
Tail End
What if your dog's tail could be another tiny furry friend? That's what we think about any time we see this picture. While it would certainly be a really weird sight, it might actually be really cool to have a tiny little puffball like this attached to every big dog. Two dogs are better than one, that's for sure, so why not get a pet that comes as two dogs at once?
Then again, how would the poor thing cope with being flung around every time its companion gets excited? As cute as it is, maybe it's better that they aren't this way.
That's Not a Duck
Have you ever felt like your dog really looks like another type of animal? Perhaps the owners of this little guy couldn't stop seeing the duck-like features in their dog after he was caught looking like a part of the flock in this photo. He blends in so well that we almost missed him there. Ironically, the reason he looks like a duck is that he's got a "birdie" in his mouth.
We can't turn out a good pun, and this photo is certainly a good one as well. We're just wondering why anyone was playing badminton by the banks of a river.
That Is a Duck
Speaking of ducks, if you look closely enough, you may just find one in this photo. While it's not exactly the most complete of camouflages, this duck certainly blends in really well with this flower pot. In fact, if it wasn't sticking out its beak like that, we might not have been able to see it at all. But we're glad we did because this photo is too cute to miss out on.
Can you imagine what life would be like if we could grow ducks in planters like this? It would definitely make things a whole lot more interesting, that's for sure.
An Upside-Down Mug
Have you ever grabbed yourself a mug of milk, only to think that you never actually filled up your cup? Maybe this might have happened to you if you used a white mug for your daily dose of vitamin D. This person filled their mug up with milk, only to realize that doing so just makes it look like the mug is upside down. Hopefully, he didn't try to flip it over.
That's honestly some stunning illusions right there. It's amazing just how much milk looks like ceramic when put in the right conditions. We're thinking this could make a nice prank.
Power Outlet
Sometimes you've got something that's sticking out a little too much, so you try to fix it by helping it better blend in with its surroundings. For one family, their power outlet was unfortunately placed right where they had a stone accent. Luckily for them, their mother is such a good artist that she managed to make the whole thing practically invisible! Seriously, this is some excellent work right there.
It actually looks like it was supposed to come like that. It's just amazing to see the power that a bit of paint has. You could almost miss the outlet completely.
Tall Bus
At first glance, you may not actually see anything wrong with this photo. But if you look at it long enough, you might just realize that the bus on the road is quite a bit taller than you'd expect it to be! Although, obviously, the reason it looks that way is that it's blending in with the building, not because it actually is a really tall bus, as cool as that would be.
We are amazed that the photographer was able to get such a perfect shot. Any longer or shorter and that bus wouldn't have been perfectly aligned as it is now.
One Mind Two Bodies
Once you see this, you're not going to be able to wrap your head around what you're looking at. Someone took a picture of a dad and his kid swimming in a pool. What they didn't realize at the time was that they had captured the perfect photo to flawlessly fuse the two together. We keep trying, but we simply can't see the two of their faces as separate at all.
The illusion is so good that we're almost convinced that this is how they actually look. It might be a lot easier if we could just see the kid's face as well.
The Fourth Person
If you were looking for something else for your brain to refuse to register properly, then look no further than the four of these friends sharing a toast out in the woods. Wait, what was that? There are actually only three people in the photo? No, we assure you that there are definitely four people there. Just take a closer look at all of their hands and trace it back.
But even when you finally see the final man's hand, you still can't stop not seeing him in the photo. That is a really impressive camouflage if you ask us.
The Perfect Picture
We've seen trucks out there with all manner of paint jobs on them, but we have never seen anything quite like this before. Someone caught a photo of a truck out on the road whose mural perfectly matched the surrounding scenery. We want to say that the artist used this background for inspiration, but it looks like they're coming from somewhere far away and that this is purely a coincidence.
It seems better that way anyway. We like the idea of one day coming across something like this completely by accident. This is definitely a safety hazard on this road, though. No doubt about that.
Melting Way
On Twitter, a man named Kevin has alerted everyone that if they own a black cat they might want to skip out on buying themselves a black rug. Why? Well, you can probably guess. And if you can't, Kevin has actually provided a picture as an example to those who don't trust his words. His cat has practically melted into the carpet and we're sure he was mere inches away from stepping on the poor thing.
We're sure you don't want to step on your cat either, so you should probably heed his warning. We do have to appreciate how 2 dimensional-looking that cat was able to get.
Broken Chair
Sometimes the problem isn't the furniture and decorations that are the problem. Sometimes the black cat is to blame for blending into everything. It must not have been a fun sight for these pet owners when they stepped into their kitchen only to notice that one of their chairs was broken. The good news is that there is no damage, just a little kitty causing a massive void in the fabric of space.
Aww, it looks like the little guy is hungry! Well, why didn't you say so? There was no need to make anyone freak out about their property being destroyed.
Floofy Snow
Kitties aren't the only floofs that can blend into their surroundings. This snowy pup is right at home in the snow. You can tell because the only thing visible in those mounds of snow is a pupper's smile and precious toe beans. That's how you know she's really comfortable there. There really isn't anything better than seeing a dog play around in the snow. At least someone is enjoying it.
We just hope that this little girl doesn't get herself lost out there being so well blended in. Though it will probably be easy to track her down by the yellow patches she leaves behind.
Avocado Bird
Have you ever wondered what an avocado looks like when it fully matures? Well, look no further, as we have an image to prove to you that avocados are really giant bird eggs. Just take a look. We always knew there was something off with this balanced breakfast all-time favorite. If this picture does not convince you that these aren't fruits, then we don't know what can.
We're kidding, obviously, but if we were much younger we might really believe it. Actually, that's a great idea. Why not use it to play a joke on your younger sibling?
The Moth
Some people might say that "seeing is believing" but you don't have to see this one to believe it is there. In fact, it seems that these critters are really good at finding themselves a nice place to cozy up on that looks exactly like them. If you take a really good look, you'll see that there is a big moth settling down on this wooden stick, making itself at home.
There are a lot of people out there who would prefer that moths not have this incredible knack for camouflaging themselves. If you're not careful, you might just up and grab it.
The Spider
And if that was a scary thought for you, then you probably want nothing to do with this one right here. Moths are not the only bugs that are good at hiding. Because many bugs are preyed upon by others, they need to evolve to be able to blend in well and evade capture. And so, their hunters have developed similar skills in order to catch their food by surprise.
And when one of those hunters happens to be a spider as big as this one, you know that's not good. One of these things could be lurking behind you as we speak!
Finding the Glasses
Personally, we think that this nautical tablecloth is pretty cool. But maybe it isn't the cover of choice for many people. "23 minutes," cries Dirak07, the poster of this photo on Reddit. He explains, "That's how long it took me to find my glasses." If we had been in the same place as him, we think we also would have gone crazy trying to find those things. He probably already has.
It's unfortunate that the one thing that could possibly blend into this tablecloth ended up doing so, but we're glad that he at least found his glasses in the end.
Where Is the Laptop
When it comes to losing something, the worst is when that thing you lost just so happens to look like something else in your house and you never noticed before. In this case, someone had accidentally replaced the pillow on his chair with his laptop case. They look nearly identical, so we don't exactly blame them for getting it mixed up. We just hope no one tried sitting on it.
It seems like it's time for this person to get a new laptop case. We're no experts, but judging by how comfy that chair looks, this is likely to happen again.
Where Is the Remote
Losing the remote control is a problem that has plagued modern humans since the device was created. For this person, they didn't happen to lose it in between the couch cushions, as that would be far too convenient. Instead, they decided for whatever reason to place the remote onto the power strip that seems to be on the floor. They said they couldn't find it for two weeks.
We definitely feel the pain, but this is what happens when you put the remote in odd places. Then again, this probably would have happened even if it was placed somewhere more sensical.
Skinny Legs
One really cool effect you can get when things start blending into the background is being able to turn other things invisible when hiding behind them. For instance, this girl is holding a bag of popcorn, but it looks like part of her legs have been erased (and in a pretty creepy way if you ask us). We wonder what her parents must have thought when they went back to look at the picture.
We are honestly surprised at how well this common snack blends in with dry grass. We don't suppose that this picture can be done a second time now, can it?
Headless Passenger
Legend says that if you ride in the last car of the train at midnight and take a picture of the empty seat beside you, you'll be able to see the ghost of a man who was beheaded on that very same train. We're just kidding, of course, but this picture sure does make for a really spooky story. It took us a while to understand, but it seem the guy is resting his head against the window.
...Or is he? Maybe the legends about the headless passenger are true, and this is the proof. The only way to really find out is to try it for yourself.
Marble Cat
We've seen tons of pictures of our furry friends blending into carpeting or furniture--sometimes even their own beds--but we've never seen something quite like this. This cat with various shades of white in its fur seems perfectly suited to camouflage into the white marble tile on the floor. You would think that something so furry wouldn't be able to hide on a shiny surface, but this proves that very wrong.
The longer we stare, the easier it becomes to see the cat, but it definitely took us around five minutes before we saw anything at all. Did you see it right away?
Invisible Photography
You would think that photography is a pretty relaxing job most of the time, but if this picture is anything to go by then it is a lot more complicated than we thought. Whether by design or by accident, this photographer has gone the extra mile and has completely blended into his surroundings so that none of his subjects might spot him. We almost didn't see him ourselves this time.
This is actually a pretty good idea if you're trying to capture wildlife, but it probably wouldn't work from many angles. At least it makes for a really cool photo!
Mango Bird
What if we told you that there is a bird somewhere in this photo? Would you believe us? Well, at this point you probably should believe us. After everything we have seen, we now know that there are a great many things that can become nearly invisible when placed into the right environment. And in this case, there seems to be a bird of some sort that looks just like these mangoes.
If you're having trouble spotting him, you can find him in the center-left. It is the cute little mango popping up with the tiny little eyes and the perfect little beak.
Tennis Pro
If you're going out to the tennis court for any reason, you probably wouldn't wear the same colors as the court, right? At least for us, we imagine that being a forest green with white stripes outlining the different zones. But not all courts are green, and as one girl found out, she was wearing the perfect outfit to match with the court she was showing up at. Take a look:
It must be quite the coincidence to end up wearing the exact same shades and have the perfect-sized stripe in the middle. We wonder how likely those odds are.
Missing Numbers
If you're moving, we hope you don't end up in a place like this. For whatever reason, the people who painted the halls with this spackle paint decided that the walls should match the one thing identifying the house numbers. If you look really really closely, you can just barely make out the numbers for the address. But if you have to look that closely to notice, then it's not a good design.
Whoever lives there should definitely consider putting something up on their door to help identify their house. Otherwise, even they might get lost on the way home trying to find the right door.
Missing Bread
There's a reason people are so picky over what kind of countertop they have. Sometimes it's because of an aesthetic preference while other times it's something a bit more practical. For at least one person out there, it's because of an unfortunate similarity between her counter and her favorite bread. She says, "We're getting a new kitchen countertop soon. Making sandwiches will be easier". We can see why you'd want to make the change.
Although, if that's not an option, you could always put your bread on a plate or a piece of paper cloth. But hopefully, no one else is having this unfortunate problem.
A Dog's Natural Camouflage
We love a dog with an unusual pattern to the color of their fur, and this brown and freckled white dog just won our favorite of the week. Its typically abnormal coat found itself at home in the snow-dusted environment, seemingly fading right into the background and rendering this dog half invisible. We never thought we would see such an interesting pattern being put to good use. There's just one problem.
In terms of practicality, being invisible isn't all that great when your top half is so obvious. On the bright side, he won't be able to get lost in the snow like this.
Another Invisible Dog
This dog, on the other hand, seems like it could get lost pretty easily. While we can't deny that this pupper's beautiful blue-grey coat is anything but unique, the one major flawy is the capacity for this breed to blend in with rocky surfaces of all things! Although we do have to say that it really accentuates those cute little raccoon eyes that she's got. Maybe it's not such a bad deal after all.
And besides, as long as you've got a leash on her, you're fine. Just show us a picture of her when she's not on gravel so we can see her in her full glory!
An Invisible Owl
Camouflaging is all fun and games when your pet is the one blending in, but for some animals, it's no joke. Take this owl as an example. She nests in a tree that closely resembles the color of her feathers so that she can't be seen whether it's day or night. You have to be really observant if you want to catch this bird before it disappears into the trees.
It must have been really special being able to capture this one with a camera. Props to the person who was able to offer us a glimpse into the life of an owl.
Perfect Planning
What are the odds that your city plants some trees perfectly to line up with the colors of the buildings? Considering the amount of time each thing takes to build or grow, we'd say it's unlikely that you'd ever come across this. One person found something, but they also mentioned that "By complete coincidence, the trees along this street matched the colors of the building". So not intentional, but totally cool.
Unfortunately, they couldn't really complete the look. After all, there are no blue trees, and we'd gather that the seasons would never line up for a tree with blue flowers.
Perfect Match
Have you ever gotten a tattoo only to realize one day that it perfectly lines up with one of your favorite shirts? Maybe that's never happened to you or a friend specifically, but it did happen to one person out in the wild. The person who posted this picture mentioned that her boyfriend just bought this shirt and that the cutoff just so happened to align perfectly with his tattoo.
This seamless design could make for a really cool tattoo idea. Grab a shirt with a design that's cut off, and get a tattoo that completes it while being something else without it.
Literally Invisible
If you have ever wondered if it were possible to hide your vehicle in plain sight, like how Wonder Woman hides her jet, you would be surprised to find that the answer might be yes. You just need to make it reflective enough to mirror the scenery. Just take a look at this picture of some guy's car after a fresh wax. You can barely even see that it's there!
Let's be honest: there's no way this thing is safe to drive on the road. But it's a cool concept! He's just going to need to get some reflective tapes.
Dog or Bear
We all love letting our dogs lie on the bed and seeing them all cuddled up. One pair of dog parents were honored with the ability to see a dog so perfectly placed on the bed that he looked exactly like a part of the image on the blanket. If he wasn't so three-dimensional, we might not have even noticed him there. It's so cute that we don't think the owners got to sleep in the bed that night.
You know what they say: "Let sleeping dogs lie". And if this was what we stumbled into that night we would certainly have a hard time getting him to move.
Military Camo
It's not often that you get to see something like a chameleon blending into a military backpack. Most people get dogs or cats, so we feel like the people who got to own a chameleon were lucky. We've seen a few of them in class or at fairs, but we never really got to get an in-depth look at what they do throughout the day. But if it did something like this, we might end up losing it.
The way that chameleons blend into their surroundings works perfectly for this type of camouflage. Who knows? One day they might accidentally bring the little guy with them to work.
Double Rainbow
You have to be really lucky to find a place where you can take a picture with a rainbow in the distance. And you would be even luckier to find a spot near the top of the rainbow. Now imagine someone not only encounters a photo opportunity at the very top of a rainbow, but they also happen to be wearing the perfect shirt for the occasion. That's what happened here.
This is definitely the picture of the year. The chances of being able to replicate this picture in any way are slim to none. Good luck to anyone who tries.
