For as far back as the written records go, there have been people who have done things that have caused others to recoil in disbelief, or "cringe" if you will. The "cringe factor" is usually caused by someone doing or saying something so shockingly unbelievable that it makes others question whether or not the individual should be allowed out in public unsupervised. One of the disappointing things about most cringe-causing people is that they are, usually, quite oblivious to why others are cringing. Let's have a look at just a handful of people who are completely unaware of their own cringe that they cause.
"Love Birds"
Public transportation is home to some of the most interesting characters that a city has to offer. In fact, I'm almost certain that there could be an entire one of these lists that is dedicated to the interestingly odd people that can be found on busses and trains. Some of these people must know how cringy their actions are, however, there are some that, most likely, haven't a clue.
It's actually not too weird that this guy is giving his pet bird a little smooch. What is a little disturbing, however, is his desire to be known as "White Chocolate".
"Well Played. Well Played Indeed"
There are some people who are completely oblivious to their own shortcomings because they are too busy trying to let others know about theirs. This next person is so confident in their personal prowess over others that they were ignorant to the fact that they were the one being trolled. Impressively, she managed to spell 6 of the 14 words that were in her original post correctly.
When it comes to the cocky ignorance of people there are few things better than when they unknowingly put themselves into place.
"Thanks For Letting Me Know"
In the hustle and bustle of getting the "next big story" before their competitors, many news networks don't waste time on finding fresh pictures for their editorials. By "saving" this time mistakes are often made, and more often than they would like to admit, the pictures that are attached to an article have little (or nothing) to do with the article itself. These shortcuts, usually, aren't caught, but sometimes they are...
Imagine the shock that this man went through when he scrolled through CNN's Twitter page and found that he wasn't just unemployed but had been for, at least, 6 months.
"Run Away, And Never Look Back"
There are quite a few people out there who live in worlds of their own. In these worlds, there is not a thing that these people can do wrong. In these worlds, their actions don't have consequences. Once entering these worlds, it's quite difficult for someone to return to reality. Some people are so far gone that they are able to, in good conscience, justify terrible actions.
There is a fine line between feisty and crazy. It doesn't appear as though this woman has seen the feisty side of that line for quite some time.
"I Hope They Wash Them First"
Vanity plates are quite common to see in many North American cities. Some drivers opt to go with a comedic vanity plate because it gives their car a little bit of personality, while others choose plates that say something about themselves. Back in the '90s, there was an episode of "Seinfeld" that focused on a proctologist who had a vanity plate that read "ASSMAN", which made that plate both, funny and true.
It might not be the most appealing thing to think of, while stuck behind them in traffic, but who are we to judge what someone finds enjoyable.
"Look Whose Woke Now"
When children are young, they are at their most impressionable age range. The lessons we teach them in these early years are, generally, the ones that stick, the ones that they end up living their lives by. That's why it's so important to ensure that we are teaching them the right things and in the right ways. It's also important to remember that children are a lot more intelligent than we give them credit for.
If this person would have asked why Olivia said, "it's a boy deer", instead of jumping directly to correct her, this cringy moment could have been avoided.
"Something Doesn't Add Up"
The NFL's inaugural season was way back in 1920, however, it wasn't until 1967, after the AFL and NFL were unified, that the first Superbowl game took place. America, on the other hand, gained its independence from Britain in 1776, and elected its first president 13 years later, in 1789. Since then, there have been 45 additional presidents, most of whom sat in the office for multiple 4-year terms.
It really is quite painful reading/hearing some of the things that people say/type sometimes. Comments like this are enough to have people questioning the quality of the American education system.
"That's A New One"
Yahoo! Answers was a website that allowed people to ask strangers the questions that have been troubling them. Yahoo! Answers had a way of attracting some less than intelligent people who asked much less than intelligent questions. But remember what we were taught growing up, "there are no stupid questions, just stupid people". This next lady is a great example of what is wrong with the world today.
If this woman thinks that another woman is the mother of her baby, then she has a much bigger problem than just having her baby daddy cheating on her.
"But I Set It To Delicates"
When it comes to getting chores done around the house people go out of their way to find shortcuts. The saying, "it's better to do it right than do it twice", was created for the people who try and find the easy way out. These are the people who don't clean under the couch because no one can see what's under it anyway. These are the people who think the dryer can be used to speed dry anything...
Anyone who would load dishes into the dryer, in order to dry them faster, without expecting this eventual outcome, probably, shouldn't have been using the dryer in the first place...or real dishes.
"Not Sent Separately"
It's hard to imagine a time before social media, however, that time did exist. Prior to social media, the world was a simpler place. It was a place where people had to speak to others using their voices not emoticons, however, that is not the world we live in any longer. These days, people use messaging apps to flirt with other people, but, apparently, not everyone is as smooth online as they think they are in real life.
This guy's game must have taken a serious hit when all of the ladies he had been flirting with realized that they were nothing more to him than 1 of 39.
"It Might Be Time To Move"
Car owners have been communicating with their fellow commuters through the use of bumper stickers since the 1940s. Some people use the stickers to let others around know where they stand politically, while others use them to show support for their favorite sports team. When it comes down to it, bumper stickers are a way of telling other people more than they want to know about the person in the car next to them.
Something tells me that if something were to happen to this person's neighbor's family, they might be the first person that the authorities would be stopping by to visit.
"What Is Their Problem?"
Insects and other creepy-crawly things tend to give people the heebee geebees. So, it's understandable why, when people see them, the world collapses around them, and the only thing they can focus on is the urge they feel to rid the world of their existence. The tiniest little ant has the ability to make someone forget all forms of logic and leave them seeing red, even if just for a single moment.
It wouldn't come as a surprise if this person were to get arrested for killing a mosquito next. The mosquito, of course, will probably have landed on a baby's forehead, or a police officer's cheek.
"On Bended Shoe"
A marriage proposal is meant to be an event that all parties involved will remember for the rest of their lives. It should happen at an unexpected time and, ideally, should be full of romance. If everything goes well, these moments only happen once in a lifetime, so, whenever possible, the proposer should pull out all the stops in order to ensure that "yes" is the only answer they will hear.
It sure was nice of him to get down on one knee, however, I'm sure it would have meant more to her if he wasn't so worried about ruining his flashy kicks.
"Life Finds A Way"
The magic of movies is something that has amazed and bewildered viewers for more than a century. Filmmakers are able to create a world that seems so real, that many people start to believe that it is. This is especially true nowadays, thanks to digital effects. So many special effects teeter on the edge of realism, and it's this realism that has some people shaking their heads in disbelief.
If this were a child asking the question, that would be adorable and endearing, but it's not. As fantastic of an idea as the cloning technique in "Jurassic Park" was, no, the dinosaurs were not real.
"Thanks Mum!"
At some point in every young person's life, there is a moment when they realize that they are too old to be going on vacation with their parents anymore. Unfortunately, some people don't come to this realization until it's too late. By that point, however, all they can do is put their head down and embrace the embarrassing moments that their parents are destined to put them through.
Luckily, Nick is able to laugh at this. It might be a different story, however, when he gets back to school after the holidays and has to deal with his classmates calling him by the nickname his mother came up with for him.
"The Wonder Years"
The pressure of finding a partner in high school is quite overwhelming for some people, however, one young man decided not to let the pressures of finding a girlfriend get to him. He came up with a master plan to help make everyone take notice of him. He was going to post a picture of himself with a different one of his girlfriends each week.
Helpful Hint: When one is trying to fit into a new place, posting photoshopped photos of one's self with an anime character as their girlfriend is, probably, not the best place to start.
"What Do You Mean?"
Over the years, there have been superfans of celebrities who have gone above and beyond anything that would be considered to be "normal" in order to gain a deeper connection with their idols. Some people creepily track down and purchase personal items that belong to the celebs, but others go a step further and change their appearances so they can look just like them.
Michael Jackson and Elvis lookalikes have become something of the norm, however, there is something really cringy about a grown man who spends $100,000 to look like a teenage Justin Bieber.
"I Can't Be That Bad If You're Here"
The naivety and innocence of children is something that has brought countless hours of laughter to parents all over the world. Usually, when it comes to a child's thought process, everything is fairly straightforward. They see something, and, to them, because they don't know any better, that's what it means. One child, in particular, proved this point when they stumbled across their mum's I.D. and saw "Sex: F".
Burned by a 5-year-old. This is one of those moments that these parents will remember for the rest of their lives, and, hopefully, one day remind their child of.
"The Cherry On Top"
There are some people who inadvertently have done things that still make themselves cringe years after the event took place..."I was in the park and a lady loudly called out "Anyone who wants an ice cream come over here". I headed over with several others. She handed out ices to them all then asked me "Who are you?". I realized the rest were all her family. 30 years later I still cringe."
What a roller coaster of emotions that day must have been for the poor kid. 30 years later, and they're still having nightmares about everyone at the park getting ice cream but him.
"Responsibility, What's That?"
For, at least, the first 18 years after someone becomes a parent, they are responsible for the well-being and general happiness of their child. Obviously, not all parents see things this way. Of course, there are many people who would rather spend their time playing video games and hanging out with their friends, rather than doing the same thing with their children. It's probably just best not to promote that fact on social media...
This man has not only proven to be an irresponsible father, but he's also shown that he is naive enough to believe that his baby-mama wouldn't see this post. Looks like he needs more than just a PS4.
"Please, Just One Selfie. And Maybe An Autograph?".
Celebrities are simply people who other people are able to recognize. However, all because someone is recognizable, that does not give others permission to encroach upon their personal lives. Yet, for some reason, when people see famous people in the streets they tend to think that these people owe them a bit of their time. One celebrity, in particular, made sure to point out the fact that she didn't appreciate her personal time being ambushed.
I wonder who she could be talking about? Poor guy was clearly awestruck, but Anna is right, there's a time and a place for everything.
"That's One Way Of Showing Thanks"
A lot of people use social media in order to put others down while making themselves feel more superior than others. Unfortunately, these are the people who tend to peak in high school and whose parents paid for their college education. On the other hand, there are the men and women who work hard for what they have and have had to do what they needed to because they didn't have the benefit of their dad's pocketbook.
I'm not sure if Miley understands that the men and women whom she is criticizing are responsible for protecting the country. Isn't it fantastic when people like Miley get their just desserts?
"Self Impressed"
It's understandable why, when an artist creates something that they are proud of, they feel it necessary to share their art with the world. Taking pride in what one does is an important part of being successful. However, being humble is more important. Sometimes, it's better for an artist to keep their feelings about their own work private, and let their audience find their own meaning in it.
Well, at least, it's a good thing he hasn't let his talent go to his head. There is nothing people find more attractive than people who make themselves cry.
"Not His Taste"
There are many ways in which a couple could attempt to liven up their relationship. Many women like to surprise their partners with sexy lingerie, while some take it one step further and opt for the edible alternative. A lot of lingerie stores have a policy against the return or exchange of products because let's face it, lingerie gets to know the customer in a fairly intimate way. The same goes double for the edible kind.
There must be a market out there somewhere for used edible panties, but why she thinks it's normal to re-sell those things is beyond me. And come on, shouldn't she know that her boyfriend doesn't like licorice?
"Babyface"
Getting a tattoo is a lot bigger of a decision than many people make it out to be. Since the ink is permanent, the image that one chooses for their tattoo is equally as important as where on their body the ink will be. Some people have no reason or rhyme behind what they choose as the permanent art installations on their bodies. Others, however, choose their ink based on sentiment.
Something tells me this guy is going to have a bit of trouble finding work with that tattoo of his son on the side of his face. In what world is this a good idea?
"She Probably Got A Few 'Negatives' In School"
When it comes to medical examinations, when a patient is being tested for a virus, if the test comes back positive it means that the virus is present. Alternatively, a negative test result would mean the virus is NOT present. Our next cringeworthy post is from a lady who, probably, should have been paying a little bit more attention in sex education class.
I'm fairly certain that Positive = (+) and Negative = (-), but, then again, I think she might have more pressing matters to worry about than her knowledge of mathematics.
"Sorry, He Has A Knack For Finding True Beauty"
It is an age-old tradition for people to use their pets in order to help them "pick up" at the park. First, they send their dog over to where the person of their affection is, and then they go over to retrieve their pet; all the while thanking their target for helping to find their dog before it got too lost. And later, thanking their dog with delicious treats for all of their hard work.
At the park this method is adorable, and people get to play with a dog. Through texting, although creative, this play just comes off as desperate and kinda creepy.
"Well, That Makes Sense"
For a few decades now, people have been using exercise as not just a method to bulk up and put on muscle mass, but also as a way to help themselves maintain a healthy lifestyle. In the PC world, in which we live today, people are constantly told that it doesn't matter how much they weigh, as long as they are happy with themselves, which is true. However, that ideology neglects something very important, people's long-term health.
There is nothing "fatphobic" about exercising to lose weight. There is something "health phobic", however, about people who shame those who are trying to improve their own health by exercising.
"Throwing A Dog A Bone"
When it comes to fetishes there are people who are into all sorts of things that others might consider to be weird or a little bit "cuckoo bananas". There are people who are willing to do, almost, anything in order to prove their love (or lust) for someone. This next person thought that sending a picture that proved their subservience would be enough to reel in the person they desired.
I think that the real question that needs to be asked here is if this person really wants to be with someone who finds it attractive seeing someone with a dog bone in their mouth...
"If I Were Her I'd Be In Hiding"
Love is a many-splendored thing. Love lifts you up where you belong. All you need is love...or, so some people would have us believe. So many people search their whole lives and wait for that one true love. However, because of this tunnel vision, they live their lives in misery, pining over someone who is only real in their dreams, and miss the love that passes right before their eyes.
Other people live their lives appearing to be someone who is on the brink of doing something terrible that they might regret. Not going to lie, there's a chance this guy won't be smiling again...
"Grilled"
Over the years, the pressure to fit in with one's peers has led people to do some fairly stupid things. To fit in with the different cliques in high school kids have been known to dye their hair, get piercings, and start hanging out behind the school with the "cool kids". When someone is trying to hang out with the hip-hop kids at their school, but they don't have money for a new grill, there's really only one thing left to do...
Giving one's self a custom grill made out of silver spray paint is just a boneheaded move. It's a good thing this guy had his buddy do it for him.
"Say It How It Is"
Over the past decade or so, social media has become a popular platform for people to voice their political opinions. When it comes to the side that someone supports, everyone has their own idea of which is right and which is wrong. Some people, however, live in a fantasy world where the only correct outcome is the one that they want, and they are unable to comprehend any other outcome from taking place.
Well, when you're right, you're right...Oh, wait, the events of January 6th, 2021, weren't caused by the democrats. It would be great to hear what Tomi has to say about how things unfolded.
"Calling All Females"
Thanks to dating apps and social media, nowadays, the dating scene is a far cry from what it was like even ten short years ago. People have lost the ability to communicate effectively in person, and instead, rely on dating profiles to help them find their partners. When online dating is a concept that is too complex for someone, they can always do what this next man decided to do. He became his own walking advertisement.
Chances are if someone feels the need to advertise for themselves on their own clothes at the local superstore, they are probably going home alone.
"He's Not Eating Avocados Anymore"
For as many great moments as social media has given the world, there have been as many, if not more, cringeworthy ones. While some people use the platforms in order to raise money for good causes and help those in need, other people are willing to do just about anything to have the spotlight on themselves. It's shocking to see what some people will do for their 15 minutes of fame.
Social media celeb Nikocado Avacado has gone through quite a transformation over the past few years. If only someone were able to give the past version of him a heads up on what the future had in store.
"Mum! Meatloaf!"
It almost seems as though one of the rights of passage for a young adult in college is that they, at some point, need to go on a couples vacation with their best buddy while bringing along matching custom-made offensive t-shirts. What most college kids tend not to realize is that the majority of people of the opposite sex, regardless of what the movies tell us, don't like to be treated like crap.
Cargo shorts, fedoras, and misogynistic custom t-shirts, these guys probably couldn't be any cringier if they tried. And we all know that the only people making these guys any sandwiches are probably their mums.
