We all love making snowmen, right? Well even if you don't there are tons of people who make a hobby out of it. These people go above and beyond with their snowmen, turning them into near pieces of art. There are so many different kinds of snow structures you can make, so people went out and started trying. If you want to see the awesome things that people are able to make out of snow, you should check out all of the pictures below!
Snowman Mail Box
You don't really need anything fancy though to use as your base for the snowman. In fact, you can use pretty much anything. Take, for example, this next photo that was posted by u/majlem over on Reddit. His wife apparently made this amazing thing while he was at work. Imagine your surprise as you come home expecting to see your mailbox when, instead, you come across a giant snowman whose mouth is filled with your bills.
We think that would be one good way to get rid of them. Unfortunately, we all have to pay our dues, but we can at least have some fun doing it.
Makeshift Snowmen
Unfortunately, if you don't have much snow, you will not be able to make yourself some snowmen... or can you? One girl in Texas decided to get creative so that she wouldn't miss out on the fun. Who knew that you could use tumbleweeds could be used to make a substitute snowman? They may not be made out of snow, but they definitely have that holiday spirit to them!
What's more is that they do not blend in with the surroundings, so people can see them much better. Maybe we should start doing this in our own front yards.
A Whole Army
If you just love snowmen then this one is perfect for you. We can't even build one good snowman let alone an army of them! Someone went out of their way to build a whole bunch of tiny snowmen and the result of it is a literal sea of snowmen. Where do you even get the amount of snow to do something like this? Or the time to do it for that matter.
We also love that they took the time to give each one their own face and unique expression. It really makes them all feel alive. Hopefully, they come in peace.
Under Attack
If you've ever wondered what a giant army of snowmen would even do, we believe it would probably look like something along the lines of this. All of the tiny snowmen would probably try to take over the world from the larger snowmen. Although they could probably just solve all of those issues by making themselves bigger with more snow. Who are we kidding, a snowman war sounds much cooler!
We just hope we never actually have to worry bout something like this. But to whoever made this, thank you for making one more thing another one of our nightmares.
Skull
If regular snowmen aren't your thing, then you could always make something that's more your style. There are so many other things you can make as well. There are so many things that are naturally white and so they'll be great models for your snow sculptures. It doesn't even matter if they're white, though, because you can also make some pretty incredible things without color. But here's an idea for something you can make:
"Dead men tell no tales," they say. Though we think it went something like shaping the structure and then dirtying up the rest of the snow for contrast. Whatever he did, it looks great.
Belly Rubs
Other people have chosen to model their snow beings after their favorite things. And thank goodness they did because you will not regret seeing it. First up is this dog frozen in time, playing in the snow. It looks like it's having a really great time playing with the fluffy white powder. The level of detail is so good that it almost looks like it could start moving at any second.
Props to the person that made this. We can't believe there are people talented enough to do this sort of thing. And that's not even the end of it all.
Good Boy
If you love dogs and you loved the last one, take a look at what you can do if you just add some color to it. We're going to be honest here: we never thought of dyeing the snow to perfect your sculpture. Well, this lady went above and beyond when she sculpted a replica of her bulldog. And we thought the last one was really lifelike. Though this one is a bit larger than life.
Though its extra-large stature just makes it all the cuter! And when it is sanding that big and proud people will be able to see it from down the street,
Snoopy
While some people choose to make sculptures that look like their furry best friends, others decide to go with a design more familiar to everyone else. And not only was this sculpture of Snoopy from "Peanuts" perfectly spot-on, but it also fits the mood to a T during these blustery winter days. All we want to do is lay back and relax as well. Though maybe in front of the fireplace instead.
We wonder if they built that structure on top of a preexisting dog house. If so, we hope their other dog doesn't get jealous of this temporary setup.
Baymax
For those looking for a more Disney flair, we've got something for you, too. Someone decided that they would do something not as common for their snowman. Though this happens to be the perfect material to sculpt this character. They decided to build a towering Baymax snowman (robot?) to take care of anything you might require medically. The best part is it's perfectly functional as long as you only need some ice.
But even if you aren't getting your wounds treated, this snowman would look perfect out in front of any home. And it may not even be too difficult to make, either!
Minions
Disney isn't the only company that has some mascots running around. Someone out there was actually able to craft themselves some minions out of snow! Not only are they super detailed and really believable, but they also seem to be playing a Christmas carol! We're not exactly sure it would be the most appealing of performances, but it's definitely something we would want to go out and see for ourselves.
Too bad they didn't make a banana, though. That would have really perfected the piece. We wonder if we can find someone to build us snow sculptures for our own homes.
Totoro
And for anyone out there who's an anime fan, not to worry! There's a snow sculpture out there for everyone. In this case, the person wanted to pay homage to the great Studio Ghibli, the creators of "My Neighbor Totoro" by creating Totoro himself. And we love the extra touch they made by giving him a real umbrella. We would have loved to see this one up close and personal.
Do you think the umbrella helps it stay intact when more snow starts to fall? We're scared the umbrella would just break away in a heavier snowstorm, but maybe not.
A Real Piece of Art
Some people create Disney characters, other craft comic book characters, and still others make anime character snow sculptures. What we haven't seen yet is some of the more museum-quality snow sculptures. Not that the others were not worthy of being showcased, but rather this one has a much more fancy feel to it. It's as if someone got the idea from a real-life culture or something like that.
Honestly, we can't even begin to imagine the amount of work this must have taken. If we even attempted to do this ourselves, we'd just end up feeling bad for ourselves.
Stop Staring
Whoever made this accursed thing must repent immediately. It's one thing to make a snowperson, but whatever the heck this is it needs to be illegal. Even the person who made the ting said it's "a snowman I should have not created". We agree with you, buddy. This is some of the freakiest stuff we have ever seen in a snowman. This thing actually looks like it has been possessed.
We can't believe they were brave enough to go out and share this picture with everyone. But we can't help but feel like we should have never even looked at it.
Demon Snowmen
It seems someone else also had the idea to make a bunch of tinier snow people go on a rampage against the giant ones. In this case, they even went to the trouble of putting some battle wounds all over it. It truly looks like a horror seen here. We really never thought we would ever end up being scared of a snowman. But after seeing this we can't go back.
We don't even know if they would be classified as zombies, vampires, or even demons. Thank goodness that we never actually have to think about finding a taxonomical name for them.
Dog Twin
Here is something much sweeter than that; An almost perfect replica of someone's pet dog. Honestly, if you put the two of them side by side, we might not even be able to tell the difference. At least, not from far away. We love how the snowman looks so derpy, yet that seems to be exactly what its counterpart looks like. That pointed snout is just killing us over here.
We wonder if the dog looked at the sculpture and recognized itself. How do you think it might have thought of it at first? Would he be happy for a friend or jealous of the new doggo?
Octopus
We've seen a lot of different animals represented here already, but we haven't necessarily seen all that much sealife. Well, not to worry because someone had that covered. We don't know where the inspiration for this snowy octopus came from, but we know that whoever did this has definitely done something like this before. This craftsmanship is that of a pro snow sculptor. And what better to make than the creature that will one day take over Earth?
We hope they come with those ridiculous eyebrows as well. We don't know why, but for some reason, they seem to go perfectly for this guy. We kind of want to see more...
A Sleeping Dragon
Octopi and movie characters are one thing, but have you ever seen a dragon made out of snow? We have got to admit, we never would have thought of the idea. After all, we tend to think of dragons as fire-breathing creatures, so we never thought to associate them with anything wet. But that doesn't mean that they don't make for some awesome snow sculptures. Just take a look for yourself:
That thing is definitely as terrifying and brooding as what we think a dragon would be. Though it also has a sort of Dragon from "Shrek" feel to it as well.
A Dragon in Motion
Dragons are also, apparently, the perfect creature to make effects for when crafting them out of snow. If you take a look at this next picture, you'll see the amount of detail the artist put into making this. The dragon seems to be seamlessly weaving in and out of the ground like it is a sewing needle pulling the thread through some clothing. It really looks incredible, don't you agree?
We can only imagine what this would look like if they tried to add some color to this. Though we think that it works perfectly blending into the snow like that.
AT-AT Walker
For you "Star Wars" fans out there, did you realize that you could literally make a rideable AT-AT Walker from the movie? Considering it's basically a bunch of boxes, we don't imagine it is all too hard at all. And if you can't make it big enough for yourself to ride, you can also consider making it for one of the younger members of the family like this person chose to do:
Everything we've seen up until now has been truly amazing, but the thought of being able to ride a "Star Wars" robot in our own backyard just shot this idea up to number 1.
Snowman on a Stick
If you're instead looking to make a bit of comedy out of your snow person, you could perhaps set it up as if something had actually happened to it. Using the natural surrounding of the place you're building your snowman in can prove really useful to the presentation of the finished product. Just look at what you can do when you get a little bit creative with your snow people:
Although it is a bit sad to see him go, the big, comical eyes and the chances of this actually happening turn this ordinary snowman into an interesting winter centerpiece for your yard.
Moai Statue
Winter can make it hard for your travel plans. You might have to take a different flight if the weather is bad, or you might even have to reschedule entirely! That's not to mention the extra step of having to make sure you're being safe with Covid still looming. But if you have enough snow, you might even consider bringing the vacation to you! Check out this cool Moai statue this person made:
Who needs to travel to Polynesia when they can just make the famous landmarks in their own backyard? Though we guess the same comment could be made for every destination.
A Real Passion
We have yet another dragon on our hands, and this time the artist went all the way and made a full-color model in the snow. According to the poster, on Reddit, "The small town where I commute for work has a guy who builds snow sculptures for all to enjoy as they drive past. He really outdid himself with this most recent storm". We could not agree more with that statement.
And it sounds like this is something the guy does as a hobby. If that's the case, we want to see what he'd do if someone paid him to do it.
Using Natural Surroundings
But even with all the paint and the level of detail, we still have trouble deciding whether anything could be this monstrosity. Remember what we were saying about using the natural environment to your advantage? Well, this person went ahead and used their car for the set. We're not sure why they decided to use their means of transportation, but we have to admit that this finished product is insanely cool.
It looks like they aren't getting to use their car for at least the rest of the winter. Hopefully, their car insurers cover accidental damage caused by digestion.
Don't Trust Them
Of course, there are many other things you can use your car for if you are looking to make a good scene out of snow. This one doesn't involve making your car as unusable as the last one, though with a giant boulder of snow on it we expect some difficulties. Whatever the case, instead of having your car utterly destroyed by a dragon, why not have your car utterly destroy some snowmen?
They may look shocked, but they know what they've done. They were in cahoots with the army of creepy mini snowmen so we're gonna look the other way on this brutal scene.
Graveyard Snowmen
We're not sure what's up with the spooky snow sculptures, but we're definitely getting a kick out of them. It's also showing us just how many things work well with the whiteness of the snow. In this case, the color was used to imitate bones. Someone decided that they hadn't yet had enough of Halloween and built these snow skeletons to scare the heck out of everyone who thought it was Christmas.
We do have to say that this works really well. It certainly isn't something that we would expect to see around this time. That would probably help with the scare factor.
Among Us
If you were looking for something spooky to do, too, but you also wanted to reference one of your favorite games, you could also consider making a large replica of some of the death scenes from "Among Us". And the game was popular enough that you're pretty much guaranteed to get some recognition for it. But good luck making yours any better than this person's sculpture. They really went all out.
Though that's to be expected at this point. We've already pretty much given up hope on making any sculptures this good, but it never hurts to try, at the very least!
Bernie Snowders
If humor is more your thing, you could instead do a scale model of your favorite meme. Perhaps a Bernie Sanders meme is in order? That's right, folks, there's no getting away from these. Once a meme goes viral, someone out there is bound to find a newer and better way to repost the meme. And in this case, we think we can give them a pass for doing something so overdone:
That's because we never thought of taking a meme and crafting something real from it. We think this was the perfect thing to test it on. It seems to have worked out well.
He's Never Even Seen Snow
This whole time we've been worried about getting outclassed by all of these master sculptors, but this next one might just bring hope for us all. According to the poster, their "uncle visiting from the Philippines has never seen snow. This is what happened today". It may not be as detailed as a Disney Character, but if we can make something as pretty as a man who's never seen snow we'll be happy.
Even this guy knew what to do with it. Maybe there is hope yet for us. We're gonna take a quick break to practice some of our snow sculpting techniques.
Giant Fundraiser
For those who want a sculpture that says "large and in charge", then you should take some advice from this guy. He built a 25-foot tall snowman right in his own front yard. And the best part is that he did it to raise money for a local food bank. That's right, you can actually use these giant sculptures to help your favorite charities. And that's an automatic win in our book.
And not only is it super helpful, but it is also really cool to look at! How long do you think it took him to make this big old thing?
Toasty
This is something we could get down with. For those days where you really aren't feeling the cold weather, you can build yourself a monument to the good old days of summer. And what could be a better thing to represent those good times than a giant campfire? And of course, you can't forget the giant marshmallow on a stick. It may not be hot, but we feel warm already just looking at it.
And if it's not so bad outside, you probably could set yourself up a campsite to match the decorations! A warm fire and some s'mores in the winter sound perfect to us.
Dream Car
You could also do what this person did. u/simas1014 over on Reddit said, "Probably won’t get to see it in real life so I built my dream car out of snow". With a bit more snow and some car parts, this could actually look like a real car! Though "look" is about as good as we can offer. But don't give up hope! Save this picture while you work to make the money to afford it.
This is honestly some A+ work right here. It may not be a real car, but it certainly has a lot of value to it as well.
LEGO Man
This person decided that they would build a giant LEGO figurine. And this one is an exact replica of a real astronaut figure. It's really fun to see all of the different things that people build out of snow and we're always so fascinated by the level of detail that is put into it. We just hope that they aren't using yellow snow for the face if you know what we mean.
This is definitely one of the more creative things we have seen done with snow. Some of the next ones, however, take on a much spookier tone than the last ones.
Beware
We are back to the part where snowmen are not happy magical creatures. We don't think we'll ever be able to look at snowmen the same again after looking at all of these. But who is the person that thought this would be a welcoming decoration to their home? Clearly, they have a pretty serious thing against kids. We guess this is a pretty good way to say "adults only".
Then again, we are not sure who would ever actually enter this house. Halloween was a couple of months ago, people, please do not let our cities snowmen become possessed.
They're Coming
If you have a big plot of land and you want to freak people out, then you should consider setting up something like this. You just need a bunch of pairs of lights for all of the individual snowmen, but you don't even need to put too much work into their shape. In fact, we quite like the look of this one. The classical bedsheet ghost really gives this whole thing a humorous air to it.
So maybe it won't freak too many people out, but it will be pretty cool to look at. It'= is definitely a good addition to the collection of snowman ideas.
Pure Evil
But if you were looking for something truly terrifying, then you might want to consider going all out. This last one is definitely our winner for the creepiest snowman we've ever seen. Whoever thought we would be saying those two words together? But yeah, one look at this thing and you'll wish you never saw it in the first place. We just hope they didn't use real blood for the piece.
We wonder who was so twisted that they wanted to turn Christmas into a horrifying spectacle? We are just happy that this one is not based on a true story.
